Image by gogoloopiePeople who have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder or who engage in self-injury are no strangers to intense feelings of shame.
For this teleconference we'll be reading and discussing Brene Brown's chapter titled The Things that Get in the Way from her book The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are. You can also click here to learn more about Brene Brown and her work.
We'll also:
• explore the meaning and function of shame and shame-inducing behavior
• look at ways that we might increase our resiliency to shame
• talk about the DBT skill of opposite-to-emotion action for shame
Please note that this discussion is open only to individuals who have been diagnosed with BPD, have engaged in self-harm, or are in recovery from emotional dysregulation disorders. Out of respect for the privacy of our participants and the sensitive nature of this topic, this conference call will not be recorded.
This event will take place at 8:00 pm EDT on Friday, March 16th. The cost for this conference call is $25 but you can register through March 1 for just $15. Click here to register today.
