Good Faith Estimate for Dialectical Behavior Therapy Treatment
Good Faith Estimate
This page was created in compliance with the No Surprises Act.
I believe that dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an important emotional health investment for many people.
Potential clients and their family members should recognize that:
• treatment with me is always voluntary
• DBT is an evidence-based treatment supported by 30 years of research
and that
• there are pros and cons in starting any kind of mental health treatment.
The pros (or benefits) of treatment may include:
• greater emotional control
• increased behavioral control
• the capacity to create healthier relationships
• more self-acceptance
The cons of treatment may include a significant time and financial commitment. Therapy that is effective is rarely easy. Some clients may even feel temporarily worse before they begin to feel better.
I encourage my potential clients to create a list of pros and cons before they start DBT.
Cost of treatment:
I am not accepting new clients for individual therapy—only group skills training.
I charge $80 per 90-minute weekly DBT skills training group.
Most clients make a commitment to group skills training for a period of 6-12 months. Occasionally, clients will attend group for as long as 18 months.
A good faith estimate for DBT skills group only might be as much as $2100 per six-month period or $4200 for a 12-month period. A minimum of four individual assessment sessions are required before starting group. These sessions are billed at $150 each.
Insurance:
I do not accept health insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare. However, I can provide clients with a receipt (or superbill) they can submit to their health insurance company for out-of-network benefits.
Your insurance company can give you more information about how reimbursement works and what to expect.
Goodness of fit:
No specific treatment (like DBT) or therapist is right for everyone.
Because treatment is voluntary, clients and their family members should engage in ongoing self-assessment to determine if DBT is the right option for them.
I support clients who find that DBT is not a good fit for them by recommending other mental health professionals or treatment options.
